Criteria for Admission

Parkview Lodge is a protective environment that provides a minimum amount of assistance and supervision of the activities of daily living for residents who do not require professional nursing services on a daily routine basis.  Residents are encouraged to remain as independent as possible and are assisted through programming to maintain that independence.

1.  MENTAL STATUS

    Cooperative most of the time.

    Able to function in their unit for short periods of time without supervision.

2.  MOBILITY

    Requires no more than "stand by" assistance of one person, or minimal help with transferring, walking, using assistive devices such as crutches, walker or wheelchair with only occasional assistance of staff.

3.  DRESSING

    The resident needs only minimal help or supervision in obtaining clothes from closets and drawers, putting on the clothes, including braces (if usually worn), outer garments and footwear.

4.  BATHING

    Resident requires only supervision, oversight help only for safety reasons.  Needs only minimal help washing body.  (Able to wash all but one extremity or hair).

5.  CONTINENCE / TOILET USE 

    Continent of bowel and bladder or , if incontinent, is able to help with the incontinent products, or manage by self.  Accidents or inability to care for occurs only 1-2 times per week.  Transfers on and off the toilet independently or with supervision, or minimal assistance of one.

6.   EATING

    Able to feedself when given a fully prepared ready-to-eat meal.  (Resident is successful in getting the food from the plate into his.her body by him/herself).  Assistance of staff may be required for tray set-up and preparation including cutting meat, buttering bread, opening containers and pouring milk.
